Training Quarterbacks of all ages to reach their maximum potential.
QB1 Athletics was founded by former University of South Carolina Starting Quarterback Perry Orth (CEO & Head Coach) and University of South Carolina Graduate David Cowgill Jr. (CFO & Director of Football Operations). We began with locations in Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston SC. But, after hiring Assistant Coach Evan Orth and Operations Manager Jess Werts, QB1 Athletics was fortunate enough to extend our camp locations to Jacksonville, FL as well.
Perry Orth has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn the QB position under Hall of Fame Coach & Heisman Trophy Winning QB, Steve Spurrier. Throughout the process, Coach Spurrier and the Gamecock staff helped guide Perry Orth from a 6th String Walk-On QB to a Starting QB in the SEC. During his High School Career in Ponte Vedra, Florida, Perry also had the opportunity to play QB under Coach Mike Loyd, who had a career in the NFL & USFL.
Our staff is excited and motivated to train and develop Quarterbacks of all ages. Our goal is to help maximize each of our athletes potential on and off the field. QB1 Athletics is passionate about sharing these unique experiences with each of our athletes. We plan to revolutionize the way QB’s play the game and help guide them to success. Perry is excited to share his impressive level of football acumen with our clients.
What our training consists of:
1.) Footwork and lower body force
2.) Hip turn and arm speed
3.) Above the neck (the mental aspect of the game).
As a quarterback, you have to play fast and think faster while on the field. Quarterbacks will be taught basic throwing fundamentals along with intricacies of the game, whether it be offensive strategies, coverage identification, and defensive structure. When the QB can see a play or coverage in his minds eye, is when he is ready to take his game to the next level. QB1 Athletics will challenge quarterbacks to be a complete player, and the complete person. Quarterbacks will learn how to evaluate game film and what to look for when studying defensive football. QB1 Athletics offers each athlete a positive and competitive learning environment while also stressing discipline, attitude, character and leadership. We take pride in building champions on and off the field. Quarterbacks will learn the tangibles and intangibles of playing quarterback.
" Playing Quarterback is not a position, it is a life style."
- Coach Kurt Roper - Offensive Coordinator at the University of South Carolina
